This cist was discovered in 1961 by the landowner while he was digging foundations for a concrete path. It was reported to the National Museum, and was subsequently excavated (Rynne 1962, 1). The excavation revealed a rectangular slab-lined grave (int. dim. 0.48m NW-SE; 0.3m NE-SW; D 0.5m) dug into sandy, gravelly soil. Each of the four sides was formed by a single upright slab, supported externally by piles of small packing stones. Small horizontally-laid support stones, resting on the side stones, supported six overlapping capstones. A deposit of cremated human bone lay on the natural gravel floor of the cist. There were no accompanying grave-goods. (Rynne 1962, 1; plate II). A house now overlies the location.
