What is recorded here

At the narrow S end of a pasture field, close to a point where the field is bordered by a sharp bend in a river. This is the approximate location of a standing stone, one of two stones which according to OPW topographical files (1929) stood 'about 40ft [c. 12m] apart in the corner of a field at a river bend' in Carrowcrom townland. In 1926 both stones were removed from their original locations. This stone, part of which may have been broken off, and which measured 1.37m x 0.7m x 0.25m, was placed leaning against a fence. The other stone (MA040-010002-) was buried. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 24 April 2020
