At the narrow S end of a pasture field, close to a point where the field is bordered by a sharp bend in a river. This is the approximate location of a standing stone, one of two stones which according to OPW topographical files (1929) stood 'about 40ft [c. 12m] apart in the corner of a field at a river bend' in Carrowcrom townland. In 1926 both stones was removed from their original locations. This stone was buried, and the other stone (MA040-010002-) was placed leaning against a fence.
