In an area of mixed reclaimed and boggy pasture, located on the W bank of a N-flowing stream. There is a coniferous forestry plantation to SW. A layer (L c. 12m; D 0.5m) of heat shattered stone in charcoal-rich soil is visible in the W bank of the stream at a height of 0.6m above the stream bed. The layer lies directly beneath the sod and overlies a layer of grey sandy sub-soil and beneath that, a layer of grey clay. There is no above ground trace of a mound but probing beneath the sod reveals that the layer of burnt material extends at least 5m to W of the stream. Another burnt mound (MA038-199----) lies immediately to N on the E side of the stream. There is a rath (MA038-105----) 150m to E.
