What is recorded here

In pasture, in a sheltered damp location immediately to E of a spring, which rises at the base of a slope and flows 15m to N to join the Deel River. Ground rises gently to S. This fulacht fia consists of a well-defined, compact grass-covered semi-circular mound (13m N-S; 11.50m E-W; H 0.4m at S, 1.4m at N). It is composed of heat-shattered sandstone fragments in charcoal-rich soil. A shallow depression on the W side, facing the spring, indicates the likely position of a trough. A fulacht fia (MA038-178----) is located 7m to W on the opposite side of the spring, and a burnt mound (MA038-179----) is 22m to NW. A rath (MA038-033----) is located 15m upslope to S, on top of low rise Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 19 August 2019
