What is recorded here

In a rath (MA038-075). According to local tradition, the interior of the rath was used as a children’s burial ground. Slightly to N of centre there is a low oblong heap (6m E–W; 3-4m N–S; H 0.4m) of stones, possibly marking a grave. However, it may simply be a clearance cairn associated with cultivation ridges which traverse the rath interior on a roughly E–W axis. No other evidence suggestive of use as a burial ground is evident. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 1 August 2019
