What is recorded here

In pasture in the SW corner of a modern field, located on a rise in sharply undulating terrain, close to the townland boundary at the S limit of the townland. Raised circular area (diam. c. 25m) defined by a bank, and enclosed by a fosse with remnants of an external bank. The inner bank (Wth 4-6m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 1.8m at ENE, 2m at W) is largely to an earthen scarp with a broad external slope, topped by a low internal rim of earth and stones. The fosse (Wth c. 4m) is evident as a shallow depression. The external bank (Wth 3.4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.4m) can be traced at NW–SSE as a low stony rise, but is largely truncated at S–SW by two intersecting E–W and N–S property fences. There is a break (Wth 2m) in the inner bank at SE. The interior is covered by a thicket of hazel and brambles. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 25 July 2019
