What is recorded here

In undulating pasture, straddling a rise, with good views generally. Slightly raised, roughly circular area (23.9m N–S) defined by a scarp (H 1.5m at S, 1.6m at N). At NW–NNE the scarp has been incorporate into a later field boundary, which respects the curve of the rath; here the scarp retains a low internal rim (int. H 0.2m), and has been faced externally with stones. At NE–SE the scarp is topped with stones. There are two narrow breaks at ENE (Wth 0.5m) and at E (0.6m), but the original entrance is not evident. The interior slopes down slightly from N to S. There are dense clumps of blackthorn and brambles in the N half of the interior, and the perimeter is ringed with hazel. There is a rath (MA038-040----) c. 40m to S, and an enclosure (MA038-039----) c. 150m to ENE. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 25 July 2019
