What is recorded here

In pasture, on a low rise, in an area of undulating grassland. The Deel River, which marks the N boundary of the townland, is located 20m to N. Raised oval area (41.6m E–W; 32m N–S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 2.2m, at N). The bank is best defined on the W half, with remnants of internal stone facing evident in parts. Stone facing on the external face of the bank at S–SW appears to be the result of incorporation of that section of the bank into a later NW–SE field boundary. There are numerous gaps in the bank, including a break (Wth 1.8m) at ENE, and a break (Wth 2.4m) at SSW; these appear to be the result of erosion by farm stock, and it is not possible to pinpoint the original entrance. The interior has a slight slope down to E. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 25 July 2019
