Aldridge (1969, 86) recorded the tradition that there was a church had once stood in Largan Beg townland 'on the flat ground on the right bank of the Owenmore, 200 yds [c. 180m] SW of the burial ground [MA027-001001-].’ There is no visible trace of a church in this area and its exact location remains unknown.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
