At a holy well (MA022-083001), built into the S gable of the stone-built well house.
According to the 1838 OS Letters (O’Flanagan 1927, 86), this 17th-century inscribed stone was already at the well prior to the construction of the well house in 1789, when it was incorporated into the facade. The Latin inscription is dedicated to the Most Blessed Virgin, who according to tradition appeared at the well, and it states that the stone was commissioned in 1684 by Father Moriartus Crehn.
The inscription is now partly effaced and difficult to read; the 1838 OS Letters record it as follows:
In honorum Dei omnipotentis. Beatifsimae Virginis
Sine labe concepta et omnium santctorum celestis
Curia me fieri fecit Pater Moriartus Crehn
