Located on a S-facing slope, on the N edge of an expanse of rough, damp rush- and heather-grown pasture which borders the NE side of Curraghfin Lough. The drier ground upslope consists of good grass/pasture.
A surface spread (c. 10m E-W; c. 8m N-S) of angular stone fragments in dark grey soil is intermittently exposed from beneath a thin covering of sod. The mound may have been levelled when an adjacent field bank was removed during land reclamation. Another burnt mound (MA015-071002-) is located 10m to E.
