What is recorded here

In sand dunes on the Ross peninsula. In the late 19th-century, Knowles (1889-91, 616) recorded the following: "… in Ross….I found numerous hut sites from which … the sand covering cannot have been long removed." The hut sites were associated with a midden (MA15-059001-) and a burial (MA015-059003-). The exact location of the hut sites was not recorded and remains unknown. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
