In pasture, located in a slight natural dip in a broad, open expanse of undulating grassland and grass-covered dunes, dotted with many hummocks and dips, and small sand quarrying pits. Rising undulations restrict views to S and W; views are more open to N–NE towards Kilcummin Head and E to Killala Bay.
Sub-circular area (20m N–S; 17.3m E–W) defined by remnants of a bank with an external fosse. The bank (Wth 1.5-2m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.35m, at W) survives only as a low hummocky, moss-covered rise, most clearly defined on the W half of the enclosure, and largely reduced to a scarp elsewhere. The fosse (Wth 1.5-2m, c. 1m base; ext. D 0.35m) appears as a shallow depression. The interior is flat, with an uneven surface, and is not noticeably raised above exterior ground level. The entrance is at the SSE, where there is a poorly defined gap (Wth 2.5-3m) in the bank and a slight causeway across the fosse. A tractor track skirts the S side of the enclosure.
