Partially hachured — Ballincarroona (coshlea By.)

In level pasture, views good in all directions. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area defined by a scarp, surrounded by post-1700 field boundaries. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a D-shaped area enclosed by a bank incorporated into a field boundary, truncated at W by a field boundary and drain running N-W, intersected at SE by a field boundary running E-W. Surveyed in 1999 and described as a sub-rectangular shaped area (dims. 48m N-S; 42m E-W) defined by a scarp (at NNW H 0.7m; Wth 1m; at SSW H 1.2m; Wth 2m) with fosse (base Wth 5.2m; base Wth 4m) and external bank (Overall Wth 3.2m; int. H 0.6m; external H 0.5m; Overall Wth 3m; int. H 1.5m; external H 1.6m) from NW-SW, incorporated into field boundary with drain from SW-NW. Waterlogged base of external bank from NW-E may indicate external fosse. External bank appears to have been modified from E-S to form field boundary, possibly linked to portion of field boundary now removed to E of site. Interior level and dry with dense vegetation at the margins. Cattle gap (Wth 1.1m) in external bank at N and modern gap (Wth 2.2m) in external bank at E. Monument visible as a D-shaped area enclosed by a tree-lined fosse on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimages.
