Souterrain in W half of ringfort (LI048-034007-) excavated by Ó Ríordáin (1940, 128-132) between 1934-5. Excavation of the interior of Ringfort 10 uncovered the remains of a souterrain, described by Ó Ríordáin (1940, 128-9) as follows; ‘The length of the stone-built portion of the souterrain was 22 feet [6.7m], while the total length was 36 feet [11m] if we include the approach – a narrow area where the clay was sloped away from the end to the level of the floor of the structure. The walls were parallel, but not straight, and the distance between them slightly under 4 feet [1.2m], while the best portions were slightly over 4 feet [1.2m] in height'.
