Kilmallock Famine Memorial Park is located immediately E of Bohergarrode, that marks the townland boundary with Gortboy and immediately S of Kilmallock Union Workhouse which was built between 1839-40. A 40 bed fever hospital was built onto the workhouse in the mid 1800s and is annotated 'Hospital (Infectious Diseases)' on the Cassini ed. OSi 6-inch map. The burial ground is not depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Annotated ‘Burial Ground’ on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map where it is shown as a triangular-shaped area (dims. c. 73m N-S; 62m E-W) enclosed by a field boundary from E and W, with ditch at N. The burial ground is now part of a famine memorial park.
