No surface remains visible of bridge depicted on the a map of Kilmallock town dating from c. 1600 (TCD, MS 1209/62). On this map the bridge is shown spanning the River Loobagh to the SW of the Dominican Friary (LI047-022018-) and is connected to the walled town of Kilmallock (LI047-022----) via a road running through a gatehouse labelled on the town plan as 'The frier's gate'.
