17th century memorial stone at Kilmallock described in the Urban Survey of County Limerick as following (Bradley et. al. 1989, 161-2); 'Burgate family. 1642. Mural monument with a coat of arms (Ermine a chevron between three boar's heads gules) and an inscription in relief in Roman lettering: TERTIA LUX CAESOS MEMORAT SEPTEMBRIS IN ANNO/ QUEM LEGIS HEU NONDUH TRES TENET URNA SENES/ MARTE NEPOS FRATRESQUE RUUNT TRIA PIGNORA JUSTO/ JUS PATRIAE CAUSAM REXQUE FIDESQUE PROBANT/ INTEGER ATTRITIS REPERITUR CANDOR IN EXTIS/ VIRGINIS ET VERI PURPURA MARTYRII/ LILIA PURPUREOS INTER SUDANTIA FLUCTUS/ TRES MERUERE TRIUM NOMINA MARMOR HABET/ FRES.
