In level pasture, though land immediately to N of site slopes down in that direction. Roughly rectangular area (50m E-W; 57m N-S) truncated on W side by public road (on NW-SE axis) but otherwise enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.5m) NW-SW, with external fosse (D 0.15m; Base Wth 2m) NE->SW. Bank on N side incorporated into field boundary; stone-facing on outside (N) similar to that on rest of field boundary. Deep depression at NW corner probably due to recent quarrying. NE and SE corners of enclosure are rounded. Interior level and raised noticeably on N side to compensate for fall in ground level. According to OS Name Books (OSNB no 87, 74) 'there was formerly a burial ground' here, but no surface trace of any burials now evident.
