In reclaimed pasture 30m NE of a ringfort (LI040-081----). Depicted on the OSi 25-inch map as a raised rectangular-shaped area (dims. 34m E-W x 21m N-S ) defined by a scarp with remains of a fosse at N. Westropp (1917-19, 174) described this 'platform ringfort' as; ‘a curious platform fort that consists of two rectangular platforms, in line, north and south, 5 feet [1.5m] to 6 feet [1.8m] high and 66 feet [20m] wide, within a fosse 12 feet [3.6m] wide, now nearly filled; the two divisions had banks round the tops and have a fosse 12 feet [3.6m] wide between. The northern is 70 feet [21m] long and much levelled to the north-west. The southern is 54 feet [16.5m] long. Only the S platform is visible as a rectangular-shaped area defined by a fosse on aerial photographs (ASIAP (344) 0, 3) taken 05/01/2003 and on oblique aerial photograph taken 20/07/1968 (CUCAP AVT028). The outline of the S platform is clearly visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 19/09/2019. No surface remains visible of the conjoined N platform. Listed by Barry (1981, 84) as a moated site (No. 27). See attached CUCAP aerial image, (ASIAP (344) 0) and Google Earth orthoimages. Compiled by: Martin Fitzpatrick Date of upload: 10 June 2021
