What is recorded here

In improved pasture 150m W of the townland boundary with Rathcannon. Ringfort (LI039-017----) lies 420m to N, ringfort (LI039-069----) 440m to SW. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised roughly circular-shaped area. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised polygonal-shaped area (diam. c. 28m) delimited by a field boundary marked with a solid line which may suggest the presence of a drystone wall, with external fosse from NE-S-W. A gap (Wth 8m) at WNW may be the original entrance feature. Visible as a tree/scrub-covered monument on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020. See attached Google Earth orthoimages. Compiled by: Martin Fitzpatrick Date of upload: 28 April 2021
