What is recorded here

In pasture 280m E of the River Maigue that marks the townland boundary with Dromacummer West. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map as a raised irregular-shaped area (dims. 24m N-S; 25m E-W) defined by a fosse only visible from SE-S-SW, intersected at W by the former Limerick to Chareville railway track running NW-SE. Scrub-covered monument visible immediately E of the former railway track on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020. Recorded in the Ordnance Survey Field Name Books as one of '2 ancient forts, one in the S. [LI039-056----] and another about the central part of the townland' (OSNB Bruree Parish).
