In reclaimed pasture, 60m E of townland boundary with Kilbreedy, enclosure (LI039-052----) a300m to NW and enclosure (LI039-162----) 170m to NE. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised sub-circular shaped area (dims. c. 22m N-S; 25m E-W) enclosed by a fosse, bank with external fosse. Cropmark of levelled monument clearly visible on OSi orthophotograph taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimages. Faint trace of cropmark of levelled monument intersected from E-ESE by modern fence running NE-SW visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 20/09/2020. Outline of irregular shaped area defined by a wide fosse visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 19/03/2015. The cartographic representation of the monument on the OSi 25-inch map may suggest that this levelled earthwork was some form of barrow, possibly a large ring-barrow.
See attached Google Earth orthoimages.
