What is recorded here

Westropp (1906-7, 226) recorded the following details about Ballyguileataggle [Baile Gaill an tSeagail] Castle; '1569 Ballegeltegoul C[astle]. surrendered (C.S.P.I). 1583 J. O'Lacy held it at Desmond's rebellion (Peyton, 60 ; Des. R, 19b). 1612 Granted to W. Lasie (Pat. R.), who held it in 1641 and 1655 (C.S, p. 51). 1667 Confirmed to J. Odell, as Ballyteigmill, or Ballygelitaglee (Act Sett.). Fabric - A truncated tower partly covered by farm buildings'. According to O'Molony (1905, 63) 'A truncated tower is all that now exists; and farm buildings replace some of the ancient fabric'. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 24 April 2021
