What is recorded here

This townland may be the location of the medieval church of Kylteany of which very little is known (Westropp 1904-5, 414). Westropp (ibid) recorded the following details about Kiltanna; 'Kiltanna, in Clonelty, "deMagrany," 1258 (B.B.L., p. 93), perhaps the Mayryne held by Keynsham, 1228 (ib., p. 93); Magrayny, alias Kylteany church, 1418; Magrenny,or Kyltenne church, 1615'. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
