What is recorded here

Cashel described in 1943 as following; 'This fort consists of a single stone bank enclosing a circular space. The rampart very collapsed, so much so that the entrance is not recognisable. The overall diameter is 78' [24m]. Outside the fort on the south side and butting against the bank is a rectangular platform. The east end of this is marked by a line or large boulders but elsewhere it shows just as a level platform slightly raised over the surrounding ground. It measures 48' [14.6m] by 12' [3.6m]. The fort is the centre of a system of ancient fences which run in various directions over the hill' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 175). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 25 February 2020
