In low-lying, wet pasture, which is cut by land drains and watercourses, 100m SE of a townland boundary with Cullane and 250m W of the Camoge River which also marks a townland boundary with Gortacloon. Annotated ‘Lough Ceann (Site of)’ on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map. Site of possible monument is not visible on OSi orthoimages taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018. The placename ‘Lough Ceann (Site of)’ may suggest the presence of a crannóg on a lake which has since been drained. No visible remains of any crannóg at this location. A crannóg in 'Lough Ceann' is referenced in the medieval text Cogadh Gaedhel re Gallaibh (Todd 1867, 141, clx). This crannóg was one of a small number of sites that are specifically named in the text including the 'island of Loch Cend' which was reputedly built by Brian Boru. The placename 'Inisloughceann' is annotated on 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map in an area 570m S of the site of 'Lough Ceann'
