Duplicate site with Dromassell Castle in the townland of Toryhill which is listed in the SMR as LI021-183/139----*. The classification of this site has been changed from castle to unclassified mill as there is a reference in the 1654-56 Civil Survey to a mill in the townland of Corrabul. The castle identified by Westropp in the 1654-56 Civil Survey belonged to Dromassell Castle in Toryhill and not Corrabul. Westropp (1906-7, 154) recorded the following details about Corrabul; 'Not marked. 1655 Marg. O'Brien held Carabud, a broken C[astle.], sold to Sir A. Ingram and J. Newenham (C.S., xxxii., p. 5; D.S.B., 21; B.D., p. 54). 1669 Granted to Duke of York'. The broken castle in this reference belongs to a castle on Toryhill which was known as Knockdromassell.
The precise location of a medieval mill has not been identified. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that Margaret Bryen alias Stephenson, an Irish Papist, was the owner of Carabud which contained 'a Mill seate and an Eele weaer' and also the owner of a 'broaken Castle and halfe plowland of CnockdroumAssill' (Simington 1938, 373).
