Rathmore Castle immediately adjacent to enclosure. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Described in 1889 as 'near Rathmore, where a massive tower and rath still stand east of the Abbey' (Westropp 1889, 232). Monument described in 1920 as, 'A small fifteenth-century peel tower [LI031-019----], on a rising ground, about a mile eastward, appears to have justified its name by being beside a semi-circular platform, over 6 feet (1.8m) high on which the modern cottage stands in tufted trees. This is evidently a fort, but quite defaced by its later uses. There is a low, straight-sided earthwork south-east from the road near it’. No surface remains visible on OSi orthophotos taken between 2005-2012 or on Google Earth orthoimage dated 28/06/2018.
