The fragmentary remains of a bawn wall enclosing Dunnaman Castle (LI030-012----) was described in 1865 as following; ‘The Castle of Dunnaman consists of a massive oblong tower, surrounded by a wall now nearly destroyed’ (Dunraven 1865, 198-201). This wall was shown on the 1865 drawing by Dunraven as running N-S to E of castle, a short stretch of this wall can still be seen standing approx. 11m E of the castle. No upstanding remains of bawn wall to N, S or W of castle. 19th century outbuildings now located in area of bawn. The bawn wall does not appear to be contemporaneous with the tower house and may be a later 17th century or possibly 18th century construction and could be contemporaneous with the post-1700 out buildings attached to the SW angle of the castle Compiled and revised by: Caimin O'Brien Date of revised upload: 04 March 2019
