Earthwork complex described in 1943 as following; 'Complex of 2 Earthworks of Type A and 3 Ring-barrows. No. I. This is the larger of the Type A structures and consists of a low circular platform surrounded by a fosse. Outside this there was a bank which now remains on the east side of the monument for about one-third of its circuit. The maximum height of the platform over field level is 3' [0.9m] and the monument had an original overall diameter of 200' [61m] approximately' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 172).
