Described in 1840 as following; 'a very remarkable stone called Gearán Bán, that is White Horse, i.e., equus albus, which is seven feet high, four feet broad and one foot thick, being nearly perpendicular' (OSL, Parish of Fedamore).
Site of standing stone described in 1943 as following; 'O'Donovan gives this townland as the location of a standing stone which he says was called Gearán Bán. It was 7' [2.1m] high by 4' [1.2m] wide by 1' [0.3m] thick. The stone has since disappeared and its site is not known' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 222).
