The precise location of Castleroberts Church has not been identified. In 1865 it was recorded that 'The ruins of this church, and of part of the old castle (LI021-037----), were pulled down for materials to build a bridge (LI021-036----) over the Maigue at Castle Roberts, about seventy or eighty years ago (c. 1785-95)' (Dunraven 1865, 270).
Westropp (1904-5, 380) recorded the following details on Castleroberts Church; 'An ancient parish now merged, "De Castro Roberti, 1291, 1410,1418, and 1615 a. Its manor often appears with Adare, q.v. 1290-1293 (C.S.P.I., vol. iii.). In 1317, Blanche, widow of John fitz Thomas, had a suit with Thomas, Earl of Kildare, for dower on Roberde's Castle, Adare, Cromoth, Grene, and Estgrene manors (Mem. R., vol. ii., m. 13). It was a chapel of Adare, 1418'.
