What is recorded here

In undulating pasture on a slight N-facing slope, with good views to the E and W. Located 120m W of the townland boundary with Fanningstown and 400m SSE of a ringfort (LI021-040----). The site is depicted as a circular enclosure on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map (diam. c. 50m). It is depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a circular embanked enclosure (c. 37m E-W) with no external ditch. The NE side of the enclosure boundary is depicted with a slight concave indent suggesting it was altered or dug into. Later post-medieval field boundaries are located to the N, W and E of the enclosure on the map. Inspected by the ASI in 2000, when it was not visible on the ground apart from surface undulations, it was known locally as the site of a ‘fort’. The levelled enclosure is visible on Google Earth orthophotos in 28/06/2018 and 14/02/2020. Faint outline of levelled circular enclosure (diam. 37m) visible on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13.
