What is recorded here

In pasture, on N-facing slope. Enclosure covered by dense overgrowth of trees, bushes and briars so that only limited access possible. Circular area (diam. c. 25m) enclosed by two concentric earthen banks with intervening fosse, and with very shallow external fosse S->SW. Inner bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 3.5m) intact around full circuit but outer bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.3m) is reduced to low rise S->SW and N->E. Latter section skirted by linear field boundary travelling on NE-SW axis. A shallow linear depression (D 0.3m; Wth c. 4m) runs 36m out from field boundary, past SE corner of enclosure, in SW direction. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
