Ó Danachair (1955, 205-6) recorded the following details about this holy well; ‘Rag Well on 1840 map. This is not a well proper, but a large bullaun, ten inches [0.25m) in diameter and five inches (0.12m) deep in a rock which protrudes from beneath the roots of a large oak. No devotions now, but known as a holy well. The water cures ailments, especially warts. Formerly called Tobar na gCeartach, (Rag well) from the number of rags hung on the tree. Said to be dedicated to Our Lady'.
