What is recorded here

Situated in poorly drained gently undulating pasture. Identified from an aerial photographs (Bruff Survey: Map 15, no 15; 4/3731) as a possible enclosure. The monument consists of a sub-oval area (17.5m E-W; 15.2m N-S) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 2.9-3.8m; H 0.5-0.9m) with an external fosse (Wth 1.4-2.9m) and a counter-scarp earthen bank (ext. H 0.1-0.4m; Wth 1.1-1.5m; int. H 0.2-0.3m). The external bank is more pronounced in the N. The interior slopes down from N to S. A shallow depression at E, just inside the scarp, may be the result of quarrying. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 23 October 2013
