What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle SE-facing slope in undulating pasture with good views. Earthwork associated with the levelled site of ‘Castle Erkin’ (LI014-088002-). Site visited in 2005 and described as a sub-rectangular shaped area (dims. 60m N-S x 20m E-W) defined to S and E by a scarp (Wth 7.9m; H 0.9m). Cropmark of rectangular-shaped enclosure visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 20011-2013. This cropmark may represent the levelled remains of Castle Erkin or possibly the enclosing bank of a bawn surrounding the castle. Compiled by: Fiona Rooney Date of upload: 3 July 2020
