Situated on a NW-facing slope of a small hillock in undulating pasture, c. 80m NNW of Rathurd Castle (LI013-023----). There are good views to E, W and N. A semi-circular area (54m N-S) is defined from N through E to S by the remains of a levelled bank (int. H 0.1m; Wth. 2.6m; ext. H 0.2m). According to the Ordnance Survey Letters 'there is an old fort now nearly level with the ground about 30 yards NW of (Rathurd Castle)'; this may be the 'fort' referred to.
