The precise location of a possible leper hospital in the townland of Ballykeeffe has not been identified. The Topographical Dictionary of Ireland recorded in 1837 that in the Parish of Mungret 'near the eastern boundary of the parish opposite to Ballincurra, are the ruins of a hermitage, afterwards a leper hospital' (Lewis 1837, 154; Lee 1966, 22-3).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
