Situated on a low rise of ground located three miles west of Limerick city on the Foynes road. Mungret graveyard probably stands on site of monastery founded here by Neasán of Mungret (Mungairit) whose feastday fell on the 25th of July (Ó Riain 2011, 514-5). Pre-Norman church (LI013-009001-) 90m to NNE, small graveyard (LI003-009003-) with pre-Norman church (LI003-009002-) immediately E of public road forming W boundary of graveyard. Long sub-rectangular shaped graveyard (approx. dims. 40m N-S x 120m E-W) enclosed by a post-1700 stone wall with entrance gate at N end of E wall. The E side of the graveyard has been intersected by a public road running roughly N-S. Remains of Mungret Abbey church (LI003-009005-) stands in SE quadrant of graveyard with post-1700 C of I church ruins in W quadrant. Modern graveyard extension on S side.
