Described in the Urban Survey of Limerick (Bradley et. al. 1989, 57) as following; 'There were at least two mills in the town; one owned by the Franciscans called the "Mollin begg" which was located near another mill owned by the earl of Desmond (Westropp 1903, 33: 171).
