The following description of this monument is taken from 'The Urban Archaeological Survey of County Limerick' compiled by John Bradley, Andrew Halpin and Heather A. King (Office of Public Works, 1985).
"Cross
A 16th century cross stands in the grounds of the Franciscan friary. It is an undecorated Latin cross set on a tall drum shaped base and mounted on a concrete plinth. It appears on the 'Pacata Hibernia' drawing in a similar position (Westropp
1903, 158; 1904, 116).
