On a gentle SW-facing slope, in low-lying pasture, c. 90m to NE of the Groody River and c. 175m to SE of the M7 interchange at Ballysimon. Not depicted on OS historic mapping. Identified in 2001 as a series of pits discovered during topsoil stripping in advance of the Limerick South Ring Road and subsequently excavated (Licence No. 01E0030) (Collins 2001, 4). The features consisted of one large oval-shaped pit (2.1m N-S; 1.6m E-W) which contained occasional charcoal flecks, and eight pits (average diam. 0.4m; D 0.08m-0.2m) concentrated around a flat boulder, each of which contained charcoal and cremated bone (ibid, 21). A second large circular-shaped pit (diam. 0.5m; max. D 0.4m) was c. 100m to E and contained large amounts of cremated human bone and charcoal.
