The precise location of possible medieval settlement associated with Clonecanane castle (LI005-058001-) within the townland of Clonconane has not been identified. A large tower house like structure with angle turret standing beside a cluster of dwellings is depicted in the townland of 'Clonecanane' on the 17th century Down Survey map of the Barony of North Liberties (NLI, MS 718; Westropp 1906-7, 82).
