Situated within the SE angle of the town walls, this was the parish church of Drogheda in Meath established by Hugh de Lacy before 1186. A priory was in existence here by 1309 (Gwynn and Hadcock 1988, 288). There appear to be no obvious remains of this foundation surviving, but there are ruins of a small structure immediately to the S of the modern church. However, this is featureless and is unlikely to date to the medieval period. (Bradley 1984b, 94-6)
