Illustrated by Wright (1758, bk II, pls XIX and XX), Grose (Dolan 1921) and Petrie (MacIvor 1950, opp. p. 144). Petrie shows it located on the S side of the river and W of Termonfeckin bridge. From the three drawings it appears to have had two angle-towers and a slightly lower building extending from the opposite side to the towers. Grose and Petrie illustrate a round tower which was almost certainly sited on one of the angles of the bawn. It is thought to have been the residence of the archbishop of Armagh (Dolan 1921).
