One of two armorial plaques (see also LH021-046003-) dated 1612 in Carstown House (LH021-046002-). This one in false relief is the keystone of the original fireplace in the N wall. The initials 'O.P.' and 'K.H.' on either side of the coat of arms representing Plunket impaling Hussey within a wreath would appear to represent the names of Oliver Plunket and Katherine Hussey, the then owners of the house. Over the crest is 'IHS' and the date 1612 (FitzGerald 1906; Tempest 1943a, 219-20).
