What is recorded here

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Situated on the summit of Mt Oriel, in an alignment with LH020-005001- to the NW and LH020-005003- to the SE. Circular, round-topped mound (diam. 22.5m, H 3m) enclosed by a fosse (Wth 5.5m, D 0.5m) from NNE-E-SE, though faint traces of the fosse remain elsewhere (overall diam. 32m N-S). Halfway up the mound is a berm-like feature (Wth 1.5m-2m) but this may be due to landscaping.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
